Prior to 1870, Quimper faience had no marks, signatures or back stamps of any kind. Beginning in the 19th century, the signature of the Faiencerie has been evolving with its history.
The symbol we use today symbolizes the "Quimper Brush Stroke" and was created from various calligraphy styles developed by our painters. For the first time in history, two Faienceries: HB and Henriot join together into a single, immediately recognized logo.
Each piece of Henriot Quimper pottery is signed on the back by the artist prior to the firing. This signature guarantees that the faience has been hand made in the workshops of the Quimper manufacturer. It inspires that it is not a copy but a true Quimper original.
